The highlight for the groom however is that window of 30 mins to an hour during the groom’s procession, known as the Baraat Ceremony! A Baraat is the groom’s procession into the wedding ceremony. In South Asian communities, it is ustomary for the bridegroom to travel to the wedding venue on a horse or in a carriage, accompanied by his family. The baraat can become a large rocession, with music and dancers. Often the groom and his horse are covered in finery. Often the groom carries a sword. This procession usually proceeds to the rhythm of a DHOL PLAYER. Keep the route short so you can spend more time dancing and less time walking. If the route is too long you will need to constantly keep moving which your guests will not enjoy. The most fun part of the baraat is usually when everyone is dancing in one place without walking. Try to pick a route that will look good in your pictures and video. No route can be perfect but you can avoid ones that are really bad. Couples are always looking for ways to make their event unique.
